Arts Council Presents Teacher Initiated Program Grant Writing Tips Workshop in Western Kentucky
FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Kentucky Arts Council will present a workshop to introduce the Teacher Initiated Program to teachers, administrators and parents interested in arts opportunities in their children's schools.
The workshop will be held from 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. C.S.T., November 13, 2008, at the Graves County Middle School Library, 625 Jimtown Road, Mayfield, KY 42066.
The Teacher Initiated Program brings professional artists from a wide range of arts disciplines into the classroom to collaborate on innovative ways to integrate the arts across the curriculum. Schools may choose artists that have been selected for the Kentucky Arts Council's "Arts Education Roster of Artists," based on artistic excellence and teaching and residency experience.
The workshop guides the participants through the process of effective grant writing for the Teacher Initiated Program with a step-by-step approach to applying through the agency's electronic grant application system, Kentucky Arts Services OnLine (KASOL).
Artists interested in applying for the "Arts Education Roster of Artists" are also invited to attend. Murray artist, Bryan Warner, who has conducted residencies through the Teacher Initiated Program, will also be on hand to answer questions about his experiences with the program.
The workshop is free and open to the public, however pre-registration is required. Accessibility services for these workshops are available if noted on registration form. To register, go to: http://artscouncil.ky.gov/forms/TIPwkshp_111308reg.htm.
The Kentucky Arts Council is a state agency in the Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet that creates opportunities for Kentuckians to value, participate in and benefit from the arts.
