FRANKFORT, Ky. — Artists selected for the Kentucky Crafted program of the Kentucky Arts Council will be in the spotlight in downtown Lexington during the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games™. Artists from across the state will be exhibiting at the Kentucky Market in Triangle Park as part of Spotlight Lexington, from 10 a.m. – 6 p.m., Sept. 24 - 26, Sept. 30 – Oct. 3, and Oct. 7-10, 2010.

“We’ve been at the planning table since the beginning stages of Spotlight Lexington,” said Lori Meadows, executive director of the Kentucky Arts Council. “We felt it was important that Lexington showcase quality artists from across Kentucky and we knew we had the programs in place that could help identify those artists.”

The Kentucky Crafted program lends support to professional visual and craft artists and promotes a diverse selection of high-quality traditional and contemporary Kentucky art. Artists are selected to participate in the program on the basis of artistic excellence and marketability of their work. A directory of Kentucky Crafted artists and artwork is available at http://artistdirectory.ky.gov/craft/.

Many of the performers on stage during the Spotlight Lexington Festival are also a part of the Kentucky Arts Council Performing Arts Directory, a selective arts marketing program for Kentucky’s performing artists. The Performing Arts Directory can be found at http://artistdirectory.ky.gov/performingarts/.

The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, creates opportunities for Kentuckians to value, participate in and benefit from the arts. Kentucky Arts Council funding is provided by the Kentucky General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts.

NOTE TO EDITORS: Kentucky Crafted artists exhibiting at The Kentucky Market of Spotlight Lexington are listed below. Hyperlinks are included for those artists who have information available online about their work.
