FRANKFORT, Ky. — Three performing arts groups will join the roster of performers from a variety of disciplines in the Kentucky Arts Council’s Performing Arts Directory.

The directory is a go-to resource for arts programmers, event planners, libraries, businesses and anyone who wants to hire Kentucky talent for a performance program or private event.

Artists or groups who have been added to the directory are:

  • Misty Mountain String Band, music, Louisville
  • Mitzi Sinnott (All Here Together Productions), theater, Flatwoods
  • Nick Hill (Phourist), music, Louisville

In addition, one individual and one group were readmitted to the directory:

  • Erin Fitzgerald (A Girl Named Earl), music, Louisville
  • TDH4, music, Lexington

In addition to booking and performance opportunities, participation in the directory also gives performers access to training in business and marketing and other professional development tools.

TDH4 is a self-described “jazzgrass” group. One member of the quartet, fiddler Karen Jones, said being in the Performing Arts Directory is a distinction TDH4 takes seriously.

“It gives an additional presence and legitimacy to our music and the business of music,” Jones said. “It’s nice to be part of a larger group of artists who are a reflection of Kentucky culture.”

One of the clients who has booked TDH4 is University of Kentucky Hospital. The hospital’s Arts in HealthCare program has used the Performing Arts Directory to book many acts for its offerings.

“We wanted the performances to be diverse and appropriate for a health care setting,” said Kelsey Lownds, a support assistant for the Arts in HealthCare program. “I found the directory very easy to use, and I was able to get a clear picture of the performance style of each artist. We definitely want to bring in more Kentucky Arts Council artists and bring back some of the artists we have had perform already when funding becomes available.”

The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, fosters environments for Kentuckians to value, participate in and benefit from the arts. Kentucky Arts Council funding is provided by the Kentucky General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts. The arts council, along with the NEA, is celebrating 50 years of service in 2015, which the arts council is recognizing as the Year of the Arts in Kentucky.
