Kentucky Arts Council receives $788,600 grant from National Endowment for the Arts
FRANKFORT, Ky. — The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), an independent federal agency, has awarded the Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, a $788,600 Partnership grant. The arts council is the sole Kentucky agency designated to receive state partnership funding from the NEA.
The NEA Partnership grants provide support to 55 state, jurisdictional and territorial arts agencies, six regional arts organizations, the National Assembly of State Arts Agencies and Pacific Resources for Education and Learning.
“This grant is extremely important to Kentucky,” said Lori Meadows, executive director of the Kentucky Arts Council. “Although it is $76,000 less than last year’s grant, we will still be able to provide support for arts education programs and arts organizations that bring performing, visual, media and literary arts to Kentuckians all across the state. We will also be able to continue the marketing and promotional assistance programs for visual, architectural, performing and teaching artists.”
The National Endowment for the Arts was established by Congress in 1965 as an independent agency of the federal government. To date, the NEA has awarded more than $4 billion to support artistic excellence, creativity and innovation for the benefit of individuals and communities. The NEA extends its work through partnerships with state arts agencies, local leaders, other federal agencies and the philanthropic sector.
The Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency, creates opportunities for Kentuckians to value, participate in and benefit from the arts. Kentucky Arts Council funding is provided by the Kentucky General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts.
