FRANKFORT, Ky. — The largest gathering of Kentucky artists under one roof will converge on Lexington Convention Center March 7-8 as the Kentucky Arts Council kicks off the 33rd annual Kentucky Crafted: The Market.
The Market is Kentucky's premiere arts marketplace for the best of the Commonwealth's art, craft, artisanal food products, books and music. Visitors to The Market can also participate in hands-on art activities and hear a wide variety of musical acts each day on the Kentucky Stage.
1 – Only one artist, woodcarver Tim Hall of Ravenna, has exhibited at every edition of The Market since the show’s inception.
2 – The Market is open to the public two days, March 7-8.
4 – Lexington will play host to The Market for the fourth year.
6 – The Market will be open March 6 to wholesale and trade buyers only.
7 – University of Kentucky basketball fans can stop by The Market on Saturday before or after the Florida game, show their game tickets and get into The Market for $7, a $3 discount off the regular price.
8 – In addition to the variety of artwork for sale at The Market, there are eight activities available for Market guests, including four exhibits: "Music Scenes," Idea Gallery, "Kentucky Bourbon: Distillation and Inspiration" by the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea, Kentucky Traditions; and four hands-on activities, including: the Market Mural, Community Sculpture, Nature of Color and Community Fingerprint Mural.
10 – Admission is $10 for one day and $15 for both days. Children 15 and under get in free with a paid adult admission.
14 – Participants exhibiting at The Market include 14 new Kentucky Crafted artists. The Kentucky Stage will feature 14 musical acts from the arts council’s Performing Arts Directory.
17 – The Market has been named among the Top 20 Events in the Southeast 17 times by the Southeast Tourism Society.
30 – There will be 30 new exhibitors at The Market this year.
33 – The Market celebrates its 33rd anniversary in 2015.
44 – Kentucky Crafted artists from 44 Kentucky counties are represented in this year’s show.
202 – There are 202 exhibitors total at The Market.
