Craft Marketing Program
Visit Constitution Square State Historic Site’s Museum Store For Kentucky Collection Handmade Crafts
The Kentucky Collection, an array of the state’s finest made products, will be available for purchase at Constitution Square State Historic Site’s Museum Store, Danville, Kentucky on Friday, June 10, from 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. (EST). The award winning Museum Store, a circa 1820 brick house, is located opposite Constitution Square on Second Street and was the residence of Dr. Alban Goldsmith, an early pioneer in medical surgery.
Recording artist Jennifer Rose will perform 3 p.m. - 5 p.m. featuring traditional Appalachian music with dulcimer and guitar accompaniment, sung by this true folk performer from Berea, Kentucky. Shoppers will have the opportunity to sample tasty Kentucky food products sponsored by the Kentucky Agriculture Department as well.
If you are planning to attend Danville’s annual Brass Band Festival, which is also scheduled for this weekend, make sure you include a visit to Constitution Square, within walking distance of the festival’s activities!
The Kentucky Collection is a project of the Kentucky Craft Marketing Program (KCMP), a division of the Kentucky Arts Council (KAC), Commerce Cabinet. Products in the Collection represent quality, moderately priced Kentucky crafts, visual arts, foods, books and music that are available for sale in selected retail venues around the state. KCMP’s juried participants and KAC visual artists are eligible to apply for participation in the program. Food vendors and books are selected through the participants of the partner groups, which include the Kentucky Department of Agriculture and the Kentucky Book Fair. Constitution Square State Historic Site is one of fourteen locations to incorporate the Kentucky Collection into their gift shops inventory. (See list of locations)
Kentucky is nationally known for high-quality crafts, visual art, food, books, and music that reflect the Commonwealth’s unique flavor, culture and traditions, and these items can make very personal and meaningful gifts. “We are honored to be associated with the Kentucky Craft Marketing Program and being chosen as one of the Kentucky Collection stores further enhances our inventory of Kentucky handmade products”, says Brenda Willoughby, Constitution Square State Historic Site’s park manager.

Since 1981, the Craft Marketing Program's mission is to develop the state's craft industry, support and empower Kentucky artisans and craftspeople, create an economically viable environment for craft entrepreneurs, preserve the state's craft traditions, stimulate and support product development, and generate public awareness, public support and public/private partnerships.
The Program provides assistance to Kentucky residents, individuals, or groups wanting to develop as craft professionals through economic opportunities and training, to other outside entities (e.g., craft retailers, craft and art organizations, community and government agencies), and the general public. The craft industry in Kentucky contributes 252 million dollars in annual sales and Kentucky is recognized as a model state for its craft programs and its role in the $14 billion national craft industry.
