Kentucky Arts Council selects visual and craft artists for marketing programs

FRANKFORT, Ky. — The Kentucky Arts Council has accepted seven artists into the Kentucky Crafted Program and one into the Architectural Artists Directory, state-sponsored programs that provide Kentucky artists promotional opportunities to reach broader markets.

The Kentucky Crafted artists are Don Ament, Lexington; Nick Baute, Louisville; James Begley III, Corbin; Marta Dorton, Lexington; John Keeton, Winchester; Judy Mudd, Louisville; and Helene Steene, Lexington.

Teresa Howard, Middlesboro, was selected for the Architectural Artists Directory.

Artists are accepted into the programs based on artistic excellence and market readiness as judged by an independent panel of art and craft industry professionals. There are currently 378 artists in the Kentucky Crafted Program and 31 in the Architectural Artist Directory.

The Kentucky Crafted Program provides technical assistance and marketing opportunities to Kentucky visual and craft artists. For more information about the program, contact Craig Kittner at craig.kittner@ky.gov or 502-564-3757, ext. 484.

The Architectural Artists Directory features Kentucky artists who have an established history of working on special projects and installations with private clients, home builders, architects and interior designers. For more information about the directory, contact Charla Reed at charla.reed@ky.gov or 502-564-3757, ext. 485.

The Kentucky Arts Council has four online directories featuring visual and craft artists, architectural artists, performing artists and teaching artists at http://artistdirectory.ky.gov.

The Kentucky Arts Council is the state arts agency, creating opportunities for Kentuckians to value, participate in and benefit from the arts. Kentucky Arts Council funding is provided by the Kentucky General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts.
