Kentucky Crafted artists to be featured at annual Governor's Derby Celebration
FRANKFORT, Ky. — Nine Kentucky Crafted artists have been selected by the Kentucky Arts Council to participate in the Governor's Derby Celebration May 3 in Frankfort.
The annual event, hosted by Governor Steve Beshear and First Lady Jane Beshear, showcases the capital city and pays homage to the rich traditions and heritage associated with the Kentucky Derby and the Commonwealth.
Many of the participating artists have equine-themed works and will have pieces available for purchase in the arts council tent. The Governor's Derby Celebration is May 3 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. In addition to the artist exhibits, the Governor's Derby Celebration will also feature the annual YMCA Derby Dash on Broadway, stick horse races on the Old State Capitol lawn and free concerts featuring bands from across the Commonwealth.
