Kentucky Arts Council to Meet in Madisonville
FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Kentucky Arts Council welcomes artists, representatives from arts organizations, educators and community leaders from Madisonville and nearby communities for coffee and conversation at 10:00 a.m. (CDT), Friday, March 27, 2009, at the Glema Mahr Center for the Arts on the campus of Madisonville Community College, 2000 College Drive, Madisonville, Ky. The reception precedes the quarterly meeting of the governing board of directors of the Kentucky Arts Council, the state arts agency.
The Kentucky Arts Council board and staff welcome the opportunity to hear about economic and tourism development, arts education and opportunities for participation in the arts in Madisonville and the region. The reception, which is free and open to the public, will also introduce the Kentucky Arts Council to those that may not be familiar with the work of the agency.
Following the reception, the governing board of directors of the Kentucky Arts Council will hold its regular quarterly meeting at 12:00 p.m. in the Anne P. Baker Gallery of the Glema Mahr Center for the Arts, which is also open to the public.

McCorvey, Vice-Chair, Lexington; Sonya Baker, Murray; Wilma Brown, Danville; Zev Buffman, Owensboro; Jean Dorton, Paintsville; Paul Fourshee, Cadiz; Ronald Johnson, Ft. Mitchell; H. Dean Jones II, Owensboro; Dr. Nicholas Kouns, Lexington; Ed Lane, Lexington; Gail Russell, Louisville; Ann Duggins Schell, Louisville; Randall C. Vaughn, Lexington; James R. Voyles, Louisville; and Jayne Moore Waldrop, Lexington.
The Kentucky Arts Council is a state agency in the Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet that creates opportunities for Kentuckians to value, participate in and benefit from the arts. Kentucky Arts Council funding is provided by the Kentucky General Assembly and the National Endowment for the Arts, which believes that a great nation deserves great art.
