Accessible Arts Workshop at the Four Rivers Center
FRANKFORT, Ky. — The Kentucky Arts Council has partnered with the Kentucky Center for the Performing Arts to present a series of accessibility workshops throughout the state. The Paducah workshop is free and open to all arts and cultural organizations and artists working in schools, community centers, theatres, auditoriums and other artistic environments. It will be held on Tuesday, June 26, from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. at the Luther F. Carson Four Rivers Center, 100 Kentucky Avenue, Paducah, KY 42003.
“Accessible Arts: Are you reaching everyone in your community?” will give people who work in arts organizations as well as artists, ideas for increasing audiences, how to make both facilities and programming more accessible and a better understanding of the law regarding issues of accessibility.
Accessibility workshops are also planned for Prestonsburg on Thursday, June 14, from 1:00 – 3:30 p.m. at the Mountain Arts Center and in Covington on Thursday, June 21 from 4:30 – 7:30 p.m. at the City of Covington Commission Chambers.
“We hope to get to a point in Kentucky where all Kentuckians, regardless of disabilities will be able to enjoy arts experiences,” says Lori Meadows, executive director of the Kentucky Arts Council. “These workshops will separate fact from myth regarding accessibility issues and offer some practical solutions to remove barriers that people with disabilities face when considering attending arts events.”
The workshops are free and open to anyone working or volunteering in the arts and cultural sector in Kentucky, and registration is required. To register, go to http://artscouncil.ky.gov/forms/AccessibleArtsWkshp.htm.
