Held joins KHEAA as outreach counselor

FRANKFORT, Ky. (July 30, 2015) Steven Held of Richmond has joined the Kentucky Higher Education Assistance Authority (KHEAA) as an outreach counselor. He will travel the state with KHEAA’s College Info Road Show.

The Road Show is a mobile classroom equipped with wireless Internet access. Held will visit schools, adult education centers and other sites to help Kentuckians learn about their higher education options.

“I am very excited to join the KHEAA Outreach team,” he said. “I look forward to serving the students of Kentucky and educating them on college access. I believe the education of our young people is essential to the success of the Commonwealth.”

Held was a college coach at Tates Creek High School in Lexington and at Casey County High School. He has mentored high school and college students on college and career issues. Held has a bachelor’s degree in economics and business management from Eastern Kentucky University.

“Steve’s service as a Kentucky College Coach has paved the way for his success in our college access work,” KHEAA Director of Outreach Services Susan Hopkins said. “He is passionate about helping students and families and will be a great addition to the KHEAA outreach staff.”

KHEAA is the state agency that administers the Kentucky Educational Excellence Scholarship (KEES), need-based grants and other programs to help students pay their higher education expenses.
