- Kentucky Main Street Program Awards handed out Wednesday honor community projects
Friday, January 27, 2012 Heart of Danville was the big winner during presentation of the 2012 Kentucky Main Street Program Awards Wednesday at the Grand Theatre in Frankfort. Other programs honored were Bellevue Renaissance, Discover Downtown Middlesboro, Paris Main Street Program, Main Street Russellville, Heart of Scottsville and Springfield Main Street/Renaissance.
- Kentucky Heritage Council quarterly meeting Thursday in Frankfort
Tuesday, January 24, 2012 FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Kentucky Heritage Council will meet at 1 p.m. EST Thursday, Jan. 26, at Paul Sawyier Public Library, 319 Wapping St., Frankfort. An agenda will be provided at the meeting.
- Western Kentucky Lakes Region selected to host the 2012 Kentucky Historic Preservation Conference Sept. 20-22
Friday, January 20, 2012 The Western Kentucky Lakes Region and the communities of Princeton, Dawson Springs and Eddyville/Kuttawa have been selected to host the 2012 Kentucky Historic Preservation Conference Sept. 20-22, co-sponsored by the Kentucky Heritage Council/State Historic Preservation Office and Preservation Kentucky Inc.
- KY Historic Resources Inventory tops milestone 90,000+ buildings and sites
Monday, December 19, 2011 A 1½-story log residence in Bedford, in Trimble County, recently became the 90,000th entry in the Kentucky Historic Resources Inventory, the primary record of Kentucky's historic places. Compiled by the Kentucky Heritage Council, the inventory includes individual listings of houses, barns, outbuildings, commercial buildings and landscape features such as rock fences, documented through extensive research and fieldwork.
- Kentucky Historic Preservation Review Board to meet Monday to consider eight National Register nominations
Friday, December 16, 2011 The Kentucky Historic Preservation Review Board will consider eight sites for listing in the National Register of Historic Places – including the Lexington Veteran’s Administration Hospital, two schools, a church and one historic district – during a meeting at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 19, at the Paul Sawyier Public Library, 319 Wapping St., Frankfort.

Monday, November 14, 2011 A new campaign to encourage consumers to "Shop Downtown This Holiday Season" is being launched by the Kentucky Main Street Program as a means to drive retail sales to local businesses, keep money circulating in the local economy, and help cultivate the unique character that differentiates communities across the state.

Wednesday, November 09, 2011 A ceremony at 10:30 a.m. EST Thursday in the Capitol Rotunda, sponsored by the Kentucky Native American Heritage Commission, will honor Kentucky Native American veterans and commemorate November as Native American Heritage Month.

- Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet Secretary Marcheta Sparrow presents $500,000 toward stabilization and rehabilitation of the Holt House
Tuesday, September 27, 2011 A check for $500,000 in federal Transportation Enhancement funds toward preservation of the Holt House in Breckinridge County was presented to the county by Marcheta Sparrow, Secretary of the Kentucky Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet, during the third-annual community day Saturday. Judge Joseph Holt served as President Abraham Lincoln's judge advocate general and presided over the trials of the Lincoln assassination conspirators.
- 3rd Annual Holt House Community Day planned Saturday, Sept. 24 in Breckinridge County
Tuesday, September 13, 2011 The public is invited to a third annual community day and open house from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. CDT Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Judge Joseph Holt House in rural Breckinridge County. Period music, reenactors, storytelling and tours of the house and grounds will be featured throughout the day. Holt presided over the trial of the Lincoln assassination conspirators, and efforts are underway to preserve the home.
- Kentucky Historic Preservation Review Board to meet Tuesday to consider 13 National Register nominations, including five historic districts
Friday, September 02, 2011 The Kentucky Historic Preservation Review Board will consider 13 sites for listing in the National Register of Historic Places, including the addition or expansion of five downtown historic districts, during a meeting at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6 at the Mercer County Public Library, 109 W. Lexington St., Harrodsburg.
