On Saturday, July 21, Jeannette Rowlett of Berea, will wrap semi-precious gems and Austrian crystals with sterling and 14-Karat rolled gold wire to create her unique jewelry from 10:30 – 3:30 at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea.

A Laurel county native, Jeannette Rowlett is a retired teacher and educational administrator who lives in Madison County in Berea. She specializes in the ancient art of wire wrapped jewelry. Her jewelry is hand crafted using a non-solder method and simple tools. With her hands she bends, smoothes and shapes the sterling silver and 14 Karat rolled gold wire she uses to make her jewelry. She manipulates this wire around semi-precious stones and colorful Austrian crystals to make unique pieces of jewelry. Her inspiration grows as her imagination creatively draws with the thin strands of precious wire – the shape and form of each unique piece of her jewelry.

Jeannette states, “My particular taste drives my style. I like to create jewelry that inspires comment, smiles and the desire to have a piece to wear often, is my ultimate goal.” Jeannette has her jewelry showcased in her working studio location located within the shop “I Love My Stuff” in the Hotel building that anchors a corner in Old Town, Berea. There Jeannette demonstrates Monday through Friday how she creates her jewelry.

Jeannette sells her work at several art shows throughout the year both in and out of state and
is a juried member of the Kentucky Guild of Artists and Craftsmen, the Sheltowee Artisan Guild and numerous other art organizations.

A selection of Jeannette Rowlett’s jewelry is regularly available at the Kentucky Artisan Center, located just off Interstate 75 at exit 77 (Berea). The Center’s exhibits, shopping, and travel information areas are all open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and the café from 8 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Admission is free. The Center currently features works by more than 650 artisans from 90 counties across the Commonwealth.
