Quilt Artisan Janet Serrenho Shows Visitors How to Create Their Own 4-Patch Piece at Kentucky Artisan Center
On Saturday, September 17, quilt artist Janet Serrenho of Lexington, will demonstrate and show visitors how to create their own 4-patch pattern quilt piece using a rotary cutter and sewing it together from 10:30 – 3:30 at the Kentucky Artisan Center at Berea.
Originally from Covington, Janet graduated from the University of Kentucky and started quilting 9-10 years ago. Her grandmother made hand made quilts on a treadle sewing machine and her aunt worked in a sewing factory and also did quilting. Janet’s inspiration for her quilts comes from the fabric patterns that she finds and she prefers to make full sized art quilts. She is a juried member of the Kentucky Guild of Artists & Craftsmen.
Works by Janet Serrenho are regularly available at the Kentucky Artisan Center, located just off Interstate 75 at exit 77 (Berea). The Center’s exhibits, shopping, and travel information areas are all open daily from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and the café from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Admission is free. The Center currently features works by more than 650 artisans from all across the Commonwealth.
