Fish And Wildlife Commission To Consider Regulations For Otter Creek Outdoor Recreation Area At Dec. 3 Meeting
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Commission members will consider access fees and hunting regulations for the Otter Creek Outdoor Recreation Area at their Dec. 3 meeting in Frankfort.
The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife Resources is in the process of acquiring the 2,155-acre Otter Creek Outdoor Recreation Area in Meade County. The city of Louisville, which once operated the property as a park, closed it two years ago.
Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Commission members will consider a proposal to charge access and special activity permit fees to users to help offset the cost of running the area. The proposed entry fee would be $3 a day for each visitor, or $30 for year-round access. Children under 12 would be admitted free.
Another proposal calls for a special activity permit fee of $7 a day, or $70 for an annual pass. This permit would be required for those visitors using the area for mountain biking, horseback riding or utilizing a shooting range.
Other proposals to be considered include two separate weekend-only gun seasons for deer, archery hunting for deer and other hunting season dates.
The Kentucky Fish and Wildlife Commission will begin its quarterly meeting at 8 a.m. (Eastern Time) Dec. 3 in the Arnold Mitchell building at 1 Sportsman’s Lane, Frankfort. The Kentucky Fish and Wildlife campus is located off U.S. 60, 1.5 miles west of the intersection with U.S. 127.
