Department of Fish and Wildlife
Public meeting on Lake Malone marina request set for Aug. 26
FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Kentucky Department of Fish and Wildlife
Resources will host a public meeting at Muhlenberg County South Elementary
School Aug. 26 to discuss an application to build a 24-slip marina at Lake
Malone. The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. (Central time).
Hopkinsville-based Urban Land Development is
seeking to build a commercial boat bock at the Sherwood Point section of the
788-acre lake in western Kentucky.
Kentucky Fish and Wildlife employees will present
specifics of the proposal at the meeting. Comments received at the meeting will
be discussed at the Nov. 6 Fisheries Committee meeting of the Kentucky Fish and
Wildlife Commission in Frankfort.
Kentucky Fish and Wildlife owns a 50-foot buffer
around the lake. The property deed for the site of the proposed marina assures
the landowner’s right to operate a commercial boat dock. The department can
determine the size of the marina based on its location, position and potential
to obstruct fishing on the lake.
