State Human Rights Commission meets tomorrow to rule on discrimination complaints
LOUISVILLE, KENTUCKY (APRIL 20, 2011) The Kentucky Commission on Human Rights will meet tomorrow (April 21, 2011) to rule on discrimination complaints for the Commonwealth of Kentucky. The meeting is open to the public. It will be held at commission headquarters in Louisville, Ky., at 332 W. Broadway, in the second floor conference room of the Heyburn Building. The meeting begins at 9:30 a.m. (EDT).
The Kentucky Commission on Human Rights is the state government agency that enforces the Kentucky Civil Rights Act and, through its partnership with federal agencies, the U.S. Civil Rights Acts. These laws prohibit discrimination in the areas of employment, public accommodations, housing, and financial transactions. People are protected from discrimination because of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, disability, family status, and tobacco-smoking status. The protected classes apply to the areas with varying stipulations.
