The Kentucky Commission on Human Rights Board of Commissioners will meet Thursday, April 19, 2012, at 9:30 a.m. (EDT) at its headquarters located at 332 W. Broadway, the Heyburn Building, 2^nd Floor Conference Room, in Louisville, Ky., 40206. The public is invited to this open meeting.

The Board is expected to rule on 38 discrimination complaints including one conciliation agreement based in the city of Owensboro, Ky. Conciliation agreements are similar to settlement agreements and are negotiated by commission investigators and attorneys.

The Kentucky Commission on Human Rights is the state government agency that enforces the Kentucky Civil Rights Act and the U.S. Civil Rights Act. These laws make discrimination illegal. The Kentucky Civil Rights Act protects people from discrimination based on the protected classes of race, color, sex, religion, national origin, age, disability, family status, and tobacco-smoking status. These are protected with varying stipulations in the areas of employment, public accommodations, housing, and financial transactions.
