FRANKFORT, Ky. – The Justice & Public Safety Cabinet Secretary General Norman E. Arflack has appointed Charles A. Wilkerson as the executive director for the Kentucky Parole Board.  He replaces Jim O’Keefe who resigned June 30, 2006.


Wilkerson has over 12 years of experience in staff management, sales, marketing and financial analysis.  Prior to his appointment, he has been employed by Bellsouth, Farmers Bank & Capital Trust and Fifth Third Bank.


“With his years of administrative and management experience, Charles will provide strong leadership,” stated General Arflack.  “Coming from the private sector, he will bring a fresh, new approach to state government.”


“I am honored to have been appointed to this position and to be a part of the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet,” said Wilkerson.  “With such a capable staff already in place, I am very excited about the opportunity to work with them at the Parole Board.” 


A native of Frankfort, Wilkerson received a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Hanover College.   


The Kentucky Parole Board conducts hearings within the eligibility requirements established by statute and regulation that consider the question of parole for convicted offenders.  Wilkerson’s appointment took effect October 9, 2006.
