KHS to Host Concert with No Tools Loaned on June 24
FRANKFORT, Ky. (June 9, 2010)—According to their website, they’re good guys. They just like to keep track of their tools. And the Kentucky Historical Society (KHS) will host a concert with the good guys band—No Tools Loaned—from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 24 at the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History in Frankfort.
No Tools Loaned—a perennial favorite at bluegrass and folk festivals in Kentucky and the region—offers a mix of original songs, new bluegrass, folk ballads and western swing numbers. A Bluegrass Unlimited magazine review said the band “combines classic bluegrass standards with some unique and intriguing original songs.” Members of the Frankfort-based band include Jack Burch, Scotty Campbell, Andy Ruff, Paul Williams and Wesley Atha.
The concert at KHS will be held in the Center’s Cralle-Day Garden. Dunn’s Barbecue, of Danville, will also be on-hand beginning at 11 a.m. to sell lunch, dinner or refreshments, including ribs, chicken, pulled pork, brisket, burgers, hotdogs and homemade sides.
In the case of rain, the concert will be moved into the Center for Kentucky History. Tickets for the Thursday evening concert can be purchased at the door and are $4 for KHS members and $8 for all other patrons.
The No Tools Loaned Thursday evening concert is part of a larger series of Thursday evening programs at KHS. Other upcoming events and programs include a series of Kentucky Folklife Program concerts, Theatre in the Garden and an evening dedicated to Paul Sawyier and the Society’s extensive collection of Sawyier paintings.
