Franklin County Resident Appointed to Kentucky Military History Museum Committee
FRANKFORT, KY (June 9, 2009)— Connie F. Freeman, of Franklin County, was recently appointed as a member of the Kentucky Military History Museum (KMHM) Committee by Governor Steve Beshear.
Freeman will represent the Adjutant General, replacing the late Col. Armando J. Alfaro. Freeman will serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending December 31, 2011.
Housed in the Old State Arsenal, the KMHM is one of three buildings on the Kentucky Historical Society (KHS) history campus, which also includes the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History and the Old State Capitol. KHS, in cooperation with the Department for Military Affairs, maintains the KMHM. The KMHM Committee, administered by KHS, is responsible for establishing policies and procedures for operation of the military museum. The KMHM is currently closed for renovations.
-30- An agency of the Kentucky Tourism, Arts, and Heritage Cabinet, the Kentucky Historical Society, since 1836, has provided connections to the past, perspective on the present, and inspiration for the future. KHS operates the Old State Capitol, the Kentucky Military History Museum, and its headquarters, the Thomas D. Clark Center for Kentucky History.
