FRANKFORT, Ky. (March 26, 2004) – On Saturdays during the month of April, the Kentucky Historical Society will provide children’s activities exploring the Great Depression. Held at the Kentucky History Center in downtown Frankfort, children ages 5 to 10 and their families will explore the many sides of the 1930s to include the following activities:
- Play a stock market game
- Create superhero comics
- Craft a Depression-style quilt block
- Listen to Superman radio shows and music from the “Golden Age”
- Participate in a mosaic mural project
- Sample Depression-era foods
The “Super Saturday” event will be April 17, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and is free. Children must be accompanied by an adult. Groups of 10 or more are encouraged to register in advance by calling (502) 564-1792.
“History Zone,” held each Saturday during April from 1 to 4 p.m., will also include activities that explore the Great Depression. Children must be accompanied by an adult. This program is free.
