Governor Beshear Orders Flags to Half-staff on Jan. 19
FRANKFORT, Ky.– Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff today, Jan. 19, 2012, in honor of a Kentucky soldier who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
According to the Department of Defense, Pfc. Dustin P. Napier, 20, of London, Ky., died Jan. 8 in Zabul province, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained from enemy small-arms fire. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 24th Infantry Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Fort Wainwright, Alaska.
Funeral services for Pfc. Napier will be held today at 1 p.m. Eastern time at London Funeral Home Chapel in London, Ky. Burial services will immediately follow at A.R. Dyche Memorial Park in London. Gov. Beshear encourages individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in this tribute.
