FRANKFORT, Ky.– “There is good news for everyone associated with Ford Motor Company today in Kentucky.  I congratulate Ford and the United Auto Workers on a successful contract negotiation, and we look forward to a quick approval vote.

Now comes the news that not only is Ford innovating in Kentucky, they are heavily reinvesting – with another $600 million headed for the Kentucky Truck Plant, and the addition of a third shift at the Louisville Assembly Plant.

Just a few months ago, we celebrated Ford’s investment in the Louisville Assembly Plant, which -- combined with economic incentives – kept approximately 5,000 jobs in our state, is facilitating the creation of approximately 1,800 new jobs and will produce one of the most flexible auto plants in the world.

Today’s news means more new jobs, which in turn will create related jobs.  This enormous reinvestment means more Kentuckians will be going to work and providing for their families.  It’s an exciting day.

We are proud to have so many Kentucky families making world-class Ford vehicles, and it is a source of great pride that even more Kentuckians will soon be building Fords.  It takes a partnership between labor and management to achieve success, and I am pleased that Ford and Ford workers have once again agreed to work together.”
