Governor Beshear Orders Flags to Half-staff on April 30

FRANKFORT, Ky.– Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Saturday, April 30, 2011 in honor of a Fort Campbell soldier who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

According to the Department of Defense, Sgt. Linda L. Pierre, 28, Immokalee, Fla. died April 16, at Forward Operating Base Gamberi, Nangarhar province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when an Afghan National Army soldier attacked her unit with multiple grenades. She was assigned to the 101st Special Troops Battalion, 101st Sustainment Brigade, 101st Airborne Division, Fort Campbell, Ky.

Funeral services for Sgt. Pierre will be held on April 30 at 11 a.m. Eastern time at First Baptist Church in Immokalee, Fla.  Burial services will follow at 1 p.m. Eastern time at Anderson-Patterson Cremation and Funeral Service in Lehigh Acres, Fla.  Gov. Beshear encourages individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in this tribute.
