Governor Beshear Orders Flags to Half-staff on March 24
FRANKFORT, Ky.– Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Thursday, March 24, 2011 in honor of a Fort Campbell soldier who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
According to the Department of Defense, Pfc. Arturo E. Rodriguez, 19, of Bellflower, Calif., died March, 12 in Paktika province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using small arms fire. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 506th Infantry Regiment, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.
Funeral services for Pfc. Rodriguez will be held on March 24 at 11 a.m. Central time at Nuestra Senora de la Salud de Los Enfermos in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico. Burial services will immediately follow at Jardines del Eden in Tonala, Jalisco, Mexico. Gov. Beshear encourages individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in this tribute.
