Governor Beshear Orders Flags to Half-staff on Jan. 29

FRANKFORT, Ky.– Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Saturday, Jan. 29, 2011 in honor of a Fort Campbell soldier who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

According to the Department of Defense, Spc. Joshua T. Lancaster, 22, of Millbrook, Ala., died Jan. 19, in Kandahar, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked the Kandahar airfield with indirect fire.  He was assigned to the 184th Ordnance Battalion, 52nd Ordnance Group, Fort Campbell, Ky.

Funeral services for Spc. Lancaster will be held on Jan. 29 at 1 p.m. Eastern time at Church at the Brook in Millbrook, Ala.   Burial services will immediately follow at Brookside Memorial Gardens in Millbrook.

Gov. Beshear encourages individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in this tribute.
