Governor Beshear Orders Flags to Half-staff on Jan. 15
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Saturday, Jan. 15, 2011 in honor of a Fort Campbell soldier who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
According to the Department of Defense, Spc. Christian J. Romig, 24, of Kenner, La. died Jan. 5 of wounds suffered at Nangarhar Province, Afghanistan when insurgents attacked his unit using an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to 1st Squadron, 61st Cavalry, 4th Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.
Funeral Mass for Spc. Christian J. Romig will be held on Jan. 15 at 11 a.m. Central time at Divine Mercy Church in Kenner, La. Burial services will be held at Hoffstadt Family Cemetery in Kentwood, La.
Gov. Beshear encourages individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in this tribute.
