Governor Beshear Orders Flags to Half-staff on Dec. 16

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Thursday, Dec. 16, 2010 in honor of a Fort Campbell soldier who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

According to the Department of Defense, Staff Sgt. David P. Senft, 27, of Grass Valley, Calif., died Nov. 15 at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained in a non-combat related incident.  He was assigned to the 5th Battalion, 101st Aviation Regiment, 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.

Funeral services for Staff Sgt. Senft will be held on Dec. 16 at 10 a.m. Eastern time at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington, D.C.  Gov. Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset that day.
