FRANKFORT, Ky. – Gov. Steve Beshear has made the following appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions:

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Local Distribution Fund Oversight Committee to serve for terms expiring Jan. 2, 2012:

  • Elaine Farris, of Winchester, is the superintendent of Clark County schools.  She represents the Kentucky School Board Association.  The appointment replaces Clyde T. England, whose term has expired. 
     
  • George C. “Lisle” Cheatham II, of Greensburg, is the mayor of Greensburg.  He represents the Kentucky League of Cities.  The appointment replaces Jay Fosset, whose term has expired.
     
  • William Gary Rye, of Alexandria, is the superintendent of Dayton Independent schools.  He represents the Kentucky Association of School Administrators.  The appointment replaces Phil F.  Eason, whose term has expired.
     
  • Vince Lang, of Frankfort, is executive director of the Kentucky County Judge/Executives Association.  He represents the Kentucky Association of Counties.  The appointment replaces Rodney K. Kirtely, whose term has expired.
     
  • Henry W. Bertram, of Falmouth, is the Pendleton County Judge/Executive.  He represents the Kentucky Association of Counties.  The appointment replaces Gary W. Moore, whose term has expired.
     
  • Stan Holmes, of Radcliff, is a professor at Sullivan University.  He represents the Kentucky League of Cities.  The appointment replaces Joseph H. Ewalt, whose term has expired.
     
  • B. Russell Harper, of Lexington, is executive director of the Kentucky Council of Area Development Districts.  He represents interests of special districts other than school districts.  The appointment replaces Jack F. Couch, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Sandra Anez Powell to the Commission on Human Rights to serve for a term expiring Sept. 12, 2013.

  • Sandra Anez Powell, of Richmond, is a social service coordinator with Foothills Community Action Partnership.  She represents the state at-large.  The appointment replaces George M Staples, whose term has expired.

The governor has reappointed the following members to the commission to serve for terms expiring Sept. 12, 2013:

  • Vella A. Newman, of Ashland, vice president of compliance and internal control at Ashland Inc.
     
  • Robert C. Asseo, of Florence, is a field service manager with Delta Airlines Inc.
     
  • Henry J. Curtis, of Frankfort, is a retired attorney.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Land Between the Lakes Advisory Board to serve for terms expiring Aug. 9, 2015:

  • Terry Glenn Mott, of Grand Rivers, is retired.  The appointment replaces Vernon Ray Anderson, whose term has expired.
     
  • Michael D. Lyons, of Murray, is a self-employed contractor.  The appointment replaces Marvin Lee Wilson, whose term has expired.
     
  • Kevin L. Murphy, of Paducah, is the general manager of water/sewer utilities for Calvert City.  The appointment replaces Bobby H. Cassity, whose term has expired.  

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Mississippi River Parkway Commission to serve for terms expiring Aug. 10, 2014:

  • Lynn M. Lane, of Wickliffe, is the Ballard County Clerk.  The appointment replaces Deborah J. Smith, whose term has expired.
     
  • Brandi Webb, of Bardwell, is the Carlisle County deputy judge and finance officer.  The appointment replaces Phyllis J. Teeters, whose term has expired.
     
  • Levi T. Hodges, of Hickman, is an administrative assistant for the Fulton County Judge/Executive.  The appointment replaces Judy C. Powell, whose term has expired.

The governor has reappointed Alma G. Blair to the commission to serve for a term expiring Aug. 10, 2014.

  • Alma G.  Blair, of Clinton, is a librarian. 

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the Kentucky Film Commission to serve for terms expiring Sept. 30, 2014:

  • Kristin Erwin, of Cincinnati, Ohio. 
     
  • James R. “Rick” Madison, of Louisville.
     
  • Lois Mateus, of Harrodsburg.
     
  • Nell Cox, of Frankfort.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Beverly G. Hart to the Foundation for a Healthy Kentucky Board of Directors to serve for a term expiring May 15, 2016.

  • Beverly G. Hart, of Richmond, is psychiatric nurse and professor of nursing at Eastern Kentucky University.  She represents members at-large.  The appointment replaces Claude B. Tiller, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Russell A. Meyer to the Kentucky River Authority to serve for a term expiring Sept. 18, 2014.

  • Russell A. Meyer, of Nicholasville, is the mayor of Nicholasville.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed Judy B. Long to the Kentucky Workers’ Compensation Funding Commission Board of Directors to serve for a term expiring Nov. 18, 2014.

  • July B. Long, of Versailles, is a senior claims consultant with Wells Fargo.  She represents self-insured employers.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Erica L. Hargis as City Councilperson for the City of Coldstream.

  • Erica L. Hargis, of Louisville, is a probation and parole officer for the Kentucky Department of Corrections.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Kelly E. Jenkins to the Kentucky Agency for Substance Abuse Policy Board to serve for a term expiring Sept. 20, 2012.

  • Kelly E. Jenkins, of Bowling Green, is a family resource center coordinator with Warren County Public Schools.  She represents the Kentucky Family Resources Youth Services Coalition.  The appointment replaces Betty L. Marshall, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Kentucky Board of Licensure for Occupational Therapy:

  • Laura S. Strickland, of Crestwood, is an occupational therapist and educator at Spalding University.  She represents licensed occupational therapists.  The appointment replaces Christianne R. Janes, whose term has expired.  Strickland shall serve for a term expiring July 15, 2013.
     
  • Creasa Reed, of Lexington, is retired.  She represents citizens at-large.  The appointment replaces Ruth G. Korzenborn, whose term has expired.  Reed shall serve for a term expiring July 15, 2013.
     
  • Camille Skubik-Peplaski, of Lexington, is an occupational therapist with Cardinal Hill Hospital.  She represents licensed occupational therapists.  The appointment replaces Sharalee S. Page, whose term has expired.  Skubik-Peplaski shall serve for a term expiring Oct. 15, 2013.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Owen T. Nichols to the Kentucky Board of Examiners of Psychology to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending May 19, 2011.

  • Owen T. Nichols, of Ft. Wright, is a psychologist and chief executive officer of NorthKey Community Care.  He represents licensed psychologists.  The appointment replaces Susan A. Shapiro, who has resigned. 

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the State Archives and Records Commission:

  • Louise T. Jones, of Frankfort, is a librarian at the Kentucky Historical Society.  She represents the Kentucky Historical Society.  The appointment replaces James F. Kastner, whose term has expired.   Jones shall serve for a term expiring Feb. 10, 2014.
     
  • Linda W. Potter, of Lexington, is a land records manager.  He represents citizens at-large.  The appointment replaces Robin A. Radar, who has resigned.  Potter shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Sept. 21, 2013.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the Kentucky Board of Certification of Alcohol and Drug Counselors to serve for terms expiring July 16, 2014:

  • Theodore M. Godlaski, of Winchester, is an associate professor at the University of Kentucky.  She represents alcohol and drug counselors.
     
  • Geoffrey D. Wilson, of Lexington, is director of business development for the Ridge Behavioral Health System.

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the Manufactured Home Certification and Licensure Board to serve for terms expiring Sept. 1, 2014:

  • Johnnie D. Borders, of Erlanger, is a housewife.  She represents members at-large.
     
  • Ron W. Hack, of Frankfort, is a self-employed home builder.  He represents members at-large.
     
  • Lonnie Kriel Moran, of Mt. Washington, is a manufactured housing communities sales representative with Whispering Oaks Pointe .  He represents mobile home dealers.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Center for Renewable Energy Research and Environmental Stewardship Board to serve for terms expiring March 31, 2011.

  • Mickey R. Wilhelm, of Louisville, is dean of the J. B. Speed School of Engineering at the University of Louisville.  He represents postsecondary education interests. 
     
  • Cam Metcalf, of Louisville, is executive director of the Kentucky Pollution Prevention Center.  He represents companies that are focused on renewable energy. 

Gov. Beshear has appointed Soraya C. Matthews to the Kentucky Office of the Blind Rehabilitation Council to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending June 30, 2012.

  • Soraya C. Matthews, of Lexington, is Kentucky Department of Education administrator.  The appointment replaces Lynn M. Smith, who has resigned.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Breast Cancer Advisory Committee to serve for terms expiring July 1, 2014:

  • Ann Marchal, of Louisville, is a homemaker.  The appointment replaces Arlayne C. Francis, whose term has expired.
     
  • Barbara Vonderheide, of Lexington, is a retired teacher.  The appointment replaces Paula K. Gill, whose term has expired.

The governor has reappointed the following members to the committee to serve for terms expiring July 1, 2014:

  • Eleanor Jordan, of Louisville, is executive director of the Kentucky Commission on Women.  She represents the Kentucky Commission on Women.
     
  • Doris Rosenbaum, of Lexington, is homemaker.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation Prevention Board to serve for terms expiring Sept. 20, 2013:

  • Ronni Allyson Cox, of Louisville, is the assistant county attorney in Jefferson County.  The appointment replaces Bertie Kaye Salyer, whose term has expired. 
     
  • Joe J. Friend, of Pikeville, is a self-employed attorney.  The appointment replaces Nancy Swikert, whose term has expired.

The governor has reappointed Mona Baker to the board to serve for a term expiring Sept. 20, 2013.

  • Mona Baker, of Lexington, is preschool coordinator for Fayette County schools. 

Gov. Beshear has appointed Lynn Cross to the Motorcycle Safety Education Advisory Commission to serve for a term expiring June 30, 2014.

  • Lynn Cross, of Canada, is a major with the Kentucky State Police.  The appointment replaces Tim D. Lucas, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Josephine D. Richardson to the Appalachian/Kentucky Artisans Gateway Center Authority to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Jan. 1, 2014.

  • Josephine D. Richardson, of Whitesburg, is the owner of a restaurant, book store and craft shop.  The appointment replaces James R. Voyles, who has resigned.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the State Plumbing Code Committee:

  • Park Heaton Rommel, of Owensboro, is an engineer with A & G Engineering.  He represents the Kentucky Society of Professional Engineers.  The appointment replaces Gregory L. Brown, whose term has expired.  Rommel shall serve for a term expiring Jan. 31, 2011.
     
  • Francis L. Craven Jr., of Lousville, is a plumber with Intertech Mechanical Services.  He represents the United Association of Journeymen Plumbers.  The appointment replaces Edmond L. Crooks, whose term has expired.  Craven shall serve for a term expiring May, 1, 2012.

The governor has reappointed the following members to the committee:

  • Gary W. Schardien, of Louisville, is a mechanical contractor with F.S. Schardien & Sons.  He represents the Kentucky Mechanical Contractors Association.  Schardien shall serve for a term expiring Jan. 31, 2011.
     
  • James W. Gibson, of Benton, is a plumber with Gibson Piping Inc.  He represents the Association of General Contractors of America.  Gibson shall serve for at term expiring Jan. 31, 2011.
  • Thomas E. Lett III, of Lexington, is a self-employed architect.  He represents the American Institute of Architects.  Lett shall serve for a term expiring Jan. 31, 2012.
     
  • Theodore A. Huhn Jr., of Louisville, is a plumbing contractor with Jack Huhn Mechanical Inc.  He represents the Kentucky Association of Plumbing-Heating-Cooling Contractors.  Huhn shall serve for a term expiring May 1, 2012.

Gov. Beshear has appointed Frankie L. Nelson to the State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Oct. 26, 2012.

  • Frankie L. Nelson, of Somerset, is a transportation consultant with Kron International.  He represents citizens at-large.  The appointment replaces Kathleen K. Schell, who has resigned.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the State Board of Elections to serve for terms expiring Sept. 15, 2014:

  • Stephen S. Huffman, of Lexington, works for HCM Governmental Relations.  The appointment replaces Gregory S. Shumate, whose term has expired.
     
  • David M. Cross, of Albany, is a self-employed attorney.  The appointment replaces William D. Kirkland, whose term has expired.

The governor has reappointed the following members to the board to serve for terms expiring Sept. 15, 2014:

  • Roy Sizemore, of London, is a self-employed real estate appraiser.
     
  • Kimberly Denise May, of Frankfort. 

Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the Kentucky Bicycle and Bikeway Commission to serve for terms expiring Oct. 20, 2014.

  • Jason N. Ramler, of Edgewood, is a highway engineer for URS Corporation.
     
  • Helen T. Siewers, of Bowling Green, is a landscape architect at Western Kentucky University.
     
  • William T. Gorton III, of Lexington, is an attorney at Stites & Harbison.  

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Kentucky Military Family Assistance Trust Fund Board to serve for terms expiring Oct. 5, 2014.

  • Kathryn C. Pfeifer, of Crestwood, is a contingency planner for the U.S. Coast Guard. The appointment replaces Judy Greene-Baker, whose term has expired.
     
  • Michael J. Currie, of Fort Knox, is a colonel with the U.S. Army. The appointment replaces James G. Russell, whose term has expired.

The governor has reappointed Timothy S. Merriott to the board.

  • Timothy S. Merriott, of Frankfort, is a lieutenant colonel with U.S. Army. He shall serve for a term expiring Oct. 5, 2014.

Gov. Beshear has appointed John A. Sterner to the Advisory Board for Veterans’ Affairs to serve for a term expiring Sept. 25, 2013.

  • John A. Sterner, of Louisville, is retired from the U.S. Army. He represents citizens at-large. The appointment replaces Edward A. Herrington, whose term has expired.

The governor has reappointed the following members to the board to serve for terms expiring Sept. 25, 2013.

  • Sidney C. Shouse, of Bardstown, is a postal worker for the U.S. Post Office. He represents the American Legion.
     
  • Larry C. Roberts, of Banner, is a veteran.
