Governor Beshear Orders Flags to Half-staff on Nov. 24
FRANKFORT, Ky.– Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2010 in honor of a Fort Campbell soldier who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
According to the Department of Defense, Spc. Jacob C. Carroll, 20, of Clemmons, N.C. died Nov. 13 in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, when an insurgent suicide bomber detonated a vest bomb and struck his unit. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.
Funeral services for Spc. Carroll will be held on Nov. 24 at 2 p.m. Eastern time at Green Street Baptist Church in Highpoint, N.C. Burial services will immediately follow at Floral Gardens in Highpoint. Gov. Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset that day.
