Governor Beshear Orders Flags to Half-staff on Nov. 22
FRANKFORT, Ky.– Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Monday, Nov. 22, 2010 in honor of a Fort Campbell soldier who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
According to the Department of Defense, Pfc. Christian M. Warriner, 19, of Mills River, N.C. died Nov. 14 in Kunar province, Afghanistan, when insurgents attacked his unit with small arms fire. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.
Funeral services for Pfc. Warriner will be on Nov. 22 at 2 p.m. Eastern time at Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery in Black Mountain, N.C. Gov. Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset that day.
Gov. Beshear encourages individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in this tribute.
