Governor Beshear Recognizes Sacrifice of Three Fort Campbell Casualties
FRANKFORT, Ky.– Gov. Steve Beshear today recognized the sacrifice of three Fort Campbell soldiers who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
According to the Department of Defense, the following soldiers died Nov. 13 in Kandahar province, Afghanistan, when an insurgent suicide bomber detonated a vest bomb and struck their unit. They were assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.
- Staff Sgt. Juan L. Rivadeneira, 27, of Davie, Fla.
- Cpl. Jacob R. Carver, 20, of Freeman, Mo.
- Spc. Jacob C. Carroll, 20, of Clemmons, N.C.
The Governor will order that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on the day of each soldiers’ interment for which arrangements are still pending.
