Governor Beshear Orders Flags to Half-staff on Oct. 6
FRANKFORT, Ky.– Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 2010 in honor of a Fort Campbell soldier who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
According to the Department of Defense, Lt. Col. Robert F. Baldwin, 39, of Muscatine, Iowa died in a helicopter crash Sept. 21 during combat operations in Zabul province, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 5th Battalion, 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.
Funeral services for Lt. Col. Baldwin will be held on Oct. 6 at 9 a.m. Eastern time at Arlington National Cemetery in Washington D.C. Gov. Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset that day.
Gov. Beshear encourages individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in this tribute.
