Governor Beshear Orders Flags to Half-staff on Oct. 1

FRANKFORT, Ky.– Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Friday, Oct. 1, 2010 in honor of a Fort Campbell soldier who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

According to the Department of Defense, Chief Warrant Officer Jonah D. McClellan, 26, of St. Louis Park, Minn. died in a helicopter crash Sept. 21 during combat operations in Zabul province, Afghanistan.  He was assigned to the 5th Battalion, 101st Combat Aviation Brigade, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.

Funeral services for Chief Warrant Officer McClellan will be held on Oct. 1 at 1 p.m. Central time at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church in Battle Ground, Wis.  Burial services will immediately follow at Elim Cemetery in Brush Prairie, Wis.  Gov. Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset that day.
