Statement from Governor Beshear Regarding Milton-Madison Bridge
FRANKFORT, Ky. -- “I welcome the awarding of a contract for this very important project to build a modern bridge over the Ohio River between Milton and Madison. Both of our states have long recognized the need. Our engineers in the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet proposed building on the existing piers to save years on construction. They were excited last week when they reviewed the low bidder’s very innovative technique for reducing bridge closure time to just 10 days. We are close to realizing our long-held goal of a new Madison-Milton Bridge. The old bridge served us well for many years, and the new bridge will do the same.”
