FRANKFORT, Ky. – Gov. Steve Beshear has made the following appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions:

Gov. Beshear has appointed Robert S. Silverthorn Jr. to the Kentucky Commission on Military Affairs to serve for a term expiring July 16, 2014.

  • Robert S. Silverthorn Jr., of Louisville, is an attorney and retired major general.  He represents members at-large.  The appointment replaces James H. Fallin, whose term has expired.

The governor has reappointed Thomas W. Baker to the commission to serve for a term expiring July 16, 2014.

  • Thomas W. Baker, of Lexington, is the owner of Baker Communications. 

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Kentucky Board of Dentistry to serve for terms expiring June 30, 2014:

  • Mary Ann Burch, of Frankfort, is a dental hygienist and office manager with Burch, Renshaw, Wix and Assoc.  She represents dental hygienists.  The appointment replaces Brenda Dianne Embry, whose term has expired.
     
  • Robert B. Zena, of Louisville, is a self-employed prosthodontist.  He represents licensed dentists.  The appointment replaces James R. Allen, whose term has expired.
     
  • Adam K. Rich, of Dry Ridge, is a dentist with Precision Dental Care.  He represents licensed dentists.  The appointment replaces Harry W. Sleet, whose term has expired.

Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Commission on Small Business Advocacy:

  • Kenneth R. Clayton, of Elkton, is a pharmacist with Weathers Drugs.  He represents the 1st congressional district.  The appointment replaces Todd E. Duff, whose term has expired.  Clayton shall serve for a term expiring Aug. 22, 2013.
     
  • Marvin R. Wischer, of Fort Mitchell, is president of K.W. Mechanical Inc.  He represents the 4th congressional district.  The appointment replaces Vivian J. Llambi, whose term has expired.  Wischer shall serve for a term expiring Aug. 22, 2013.
     
  • Patrick J. Clark, of Elizabethtown, is a jeweler with Clark Jewelers.  He represents the 2nd congressional district.  The appointment replaces Gregory J. Burkot, whose term has expired.  Clark shall serve for a term expiring Aug. 22, 2013.
     
  • Joe E. Rogers, of Cadiz, is a self-employed farmer.  He represents the 1st congressional district.  The appointment replaces Loretta K. Daniel, whose term has expired.  Rogers shall serve for a term expiring Aug. 22, 2014.
     
  • Jason M. Bailey, of Berea, works for the Mountain Association for Community Economic Development.  He represents the 6th congressional district.  The appointment replaces Ajay Gupta, who has resigned.  Bailey shall serve for the remainder of the term ending Aug. 22, 2012.

The governor has reappointed the following members to the commission:

  • Donna Vance, of Corbin, is the owner of Tri-County Mortgage.  She represents the 5th congressional district.  Vance shall serve for a term expiring Aug. 22, 2013.
     
  • Tyrone D. Tyra, of Lexington, is vice president of community and minority business development for Commerce Lexington.  He represents the 6th congressional district.  Tyra shall serve for a term expiring Aug. 22, 2014.  Tyra will serve as vice-chair of the commission.
     
  • John T. Underwood, of Louisville, is the state director of Association Professionals Inc.  He represents the 3rd congressional district.  Underwood shall serve for a term expiring Aug. 22, 2014.

Gov. Beshear has designated Cathy S. Zion as chair of the commission.

  • Cathy S. Zion, of Louisville, is the owner of Zion Publications LLC.
