Governor Beshear Orders Flags to Half-staff on Sept. 11

FRANKFORT, Ky.– Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Saturday, Sept. 11, 2010 in honor of a Fort Campbell soldier who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

According to the Department of Defense, Pfc. Bryn T. Raver, 20, of Harrison, Ark. died Aug. 29 at Nangahar, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when his military vehicle was struck by rocket propelled grenade on Aug. 28 at Nangahar, Afghanistan.  He was assigned to 1st Brigade Special Troop Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.             

Funeral services for Pfc. Raver will be held on Sept. 11 at 2 p.m. Central time at Crossroads Community Church in Harrison, Ark.  Burial services will immediately follow at Silver Hill Cemetery in St. Joe, Ark.  Gov. Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset that day.
