Governor Beshear Orders Flags to Half-staff on Sept. 9
FRANKFORT, Ky. -- Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2010 in honor of a Fort Campbell soldier who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
According to the Department of Defense, Sgt. Patrick K. Durham, 24, of Chattanooga, Tenn. died Aug. 28 in Babur, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit with an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.
Funeral services for Sgt. Durham will be held on Sept. 9 at 2 p.m. Eastern time at Chapel of Lane Funeral Home in Chattanooga, Tenn. Gov. Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset that day.
Gov. Beshear encourages individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in this tribute.
