Governor Beshear Orders Flags to Half-staff on July 17
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Saturday, July 17, 2010 in honor of a Kentucky native soldier who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
According to the Department of Defense, Pfc. Michael S. Pridham, 19, of Louisville, Ky. died July 6 at Qalat, Afghanistan, of wounds sustained when insurgents attacked his vehicle with an improvised explosive device. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 4th Infantry Regiment, Hohenfels, Germany.
Funeral services for Pfc. Pridham will be held on July 17 at 1 p.m. Eastern time at Owen Funeral Home in Louisville, Ky. Burial services will immediately follow at Salem Baptist Church Cemetery in Brandenburg, Ky. Gov. Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset that day.
Gov. Beshear encourages individuals, businesses, organizations and government agencies to join in this tribute.
