Governor Beshear Orders Flags to Half-staff on July 10

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Saturday, July 10, 2010 in honor of a Fort Campbell soldier who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

According to the Department of Defense, Sgt. John M. Rogers, 26, of Scottsdale, Ariz., died June 27 at Forward Operating Base Blessing, Afghanistan, of injuries sustained from a non-combat related incident.  He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.

Burial services for Sgt. Rogers’ will be held on July 10 at 4 p.m. Mountain Time at the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona in Phoenix.  Gov. Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset that day.
