Governor Beshear Recognizes Sacrifice of Kentucky Casualty

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Gov. Steve Beshear today recognized the sacrifice of a Kentucky native who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

According to the Department of Defense,   Pfc. Russell E. Madden, 29, of Dayton, Ky., died June 23 at Charkh district, Konar province, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his vehicle with rocket fire.  He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 91st Cavalry Regiment, 173rd Airborne Brigade Combat Team, Conn Barracks, Germany.

The governor will order that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on the day of Pfc. Madden’s interment for which arrangements are still pending.
