Governor Beshear Orders Flags to Half-staff on June 22
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Tuesday, June 22, 2010 in honor of a Fort Campbell soldier who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
According to the Department of Defense, Spc. Blaine E. Redding, 22, of Plattsmouth, Neb. died of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with an improvised explosive device June 7 in Konar, Afghanistan. He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.
Burial services for Spc. Redding will be held on June 22 at 11:30 a.m. Central time at Oak Hill Cemetery in Plattsmouth, Neb. Gov. Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset that day.
