Governor Beshear Recognizes Sacrifice of Fort Campbell Casualty

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Gov. Steve Beshear today recognized the sacrifice of a Fort Campbell soldier who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

According to the Department of Defense, Spc. Nathan W. Cox, 27, of Fremont, Calif., died June 16 at Landstuhl Regional Medical Center, Landstuhl, Germany, of injuries sustained June 14 when insurgents attacked his unit with small arms fire at Near Forward Operating Base, Khogyani, Afghanistan.  He was assigned to Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 1st Special Troops Battalion, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.

Gov. Beshear will order flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset on the day of Spc. Cox’s interment for which arrangements are still pending.
