Governor Beshear Orders Flags to Half-staff on June 19

FRANKFORT, Ky. – Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Saturday, June 19, 2010 in honor of a Fort Campbell soldier who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

According to the Department of Defense, Spc. Matthew R. Catlett, 23, of Houston, Texas died of wounds suffered when enemy forces attacked his vehicle with an improvised explosive device June 7 in Konar, Afghanistan.  He was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 327th Infantry Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.

Burial services for Spc. Catlett will be held June 19 at 10 a.m. Central time at Houston National Cemetery in Houston, Texas. Gov. Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset that day.
