Governor Beshear makes appointments to Boards and Commissions
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Gov. Steve Beshear has made the following appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions:
Gov. Beshear has reappointed Joe F. Childers Jr. to the Mine Safety Review Commission to serve for a term expiring May 23, 2014.
- Joe F. Childers Jr., of Lexington, is an attorney at Getty & Childers PLLC. He will chair the commission.
Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Advisory Council for Medical Assistance:
- Carla Rodriguez, of Jackson, is a dentist in private practice. She represents the Kentucky Dental Association. The appointment replaces William K. Rich, whose term has expired. Rodriguez shall serve for a term expiring April 15, 2012.
- Jerry W. Rogers, of Louisville, is the director of Operations for Christian Care Communities. He represents the Kentucky Association of Nonprofit Homes and Services for the Aging. The appointment replaces Nancy H. Steele, whose term has expired. Rogers shall serve for a term expiring April 15, 2012.
- Oyo Fummilayo, of Nicholasville, is a retired instructional assistant for the Danville Public Schools. She represents recognized consumer advocacy groups. The appointment replaces John F. Withrow, whose term has expired. Fummilayo shall serve for a term expiring April 15, 2012.
- Barry A. Whaley, of Louisville, is the executive director of Community Employment. He represents recognized consumer advocacy groups. The appointment replaces Elvin E. Dodson, whose term has expired. Whaley shall serve for a term expiring April 15, 2012.
- Donald R. Neel, of Owensboro, is a physician in private practice. He represents the Kentucky Medical Association. The appointment replaces William T. Watkins, whose term has expired. Neel shall serve for a term expiring April 15, 2013.
- Elizabeth Partin, of Columbia, is a nurse practitioner at Westlake Regional Hospital. She represents the Kentucky Nurses Association. The appointment replaces Kristin V. Paul, whose term has expired. Partin shall serve for a term expiring April 15, 2014.
- Sheina Cruse Murphy, of Paducah, is a self-employed Kentucky peer disability-specialist. She represents medical assistance recipients. The appointment replaces Teresa M. Turner, whose term has expired. Murphy shall serve for a term expiring April 15, 2014.
- Peggy Sue Roark, of Nicholasville, is a homemaker and volunteer at Warner Elementary. She represents medical assistance recipients. The appointment replaces Robert D. Gray, whose term has expired. Roark shall serve for a term expiring April 15, 2014.
- Carolyn Michelle Girdler, of Independence, is an assistant at U.C. Physicians. She represents medical assistance recipients. The appointment replaces Marsha C. Mercer, whose term has expired. Girdler shall serve for a term expiring April 15, 2011.
- Chris G. Carle, of Park Hills, is a healthcare manager at St. Elizabeth Healthcare. He represents the Kentucky Hospital Association. The appointment replaces Frank A. Butler, whose term has expired. Carle shall serve for a term expiring April 15, 2011.
- Rodney J. Jones, of Harlan, is director of clinical services for ARH. He represents the Kentucky Home Health Association. The appointment replaces Jennifer Johnson, whose term has expired. Jones shall serve for a term expiring April 15, 2013.
The governor has reappointed the following members to the council:
- Richard L. Foley, of Louisville, is the chief financial officer for Parkway Medical Center. He represents the Kentucky Association of Health Care Facilities. Foley shall serve for a term expiring April 15, 2012.
- Terri Susanne Watkins, of Russell Springs, is an optometrist in private practice. She represents the Kentucky Optometric Association. Watkins shall serve for a term expiring April 15, 2013.
- Ronald Steven Poole, of Central City, is a pharmacist at Poole’s Pharmacy Care. He represents the Kentucky Pharmacists Association. Poole shall serve for a term expiring April 15, 2012.
Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors to serve for terms expiring May 31, 2014.
- Woodford R. Porter Jr., of Louisville, is the funeral director and owner of A.D. Porter & Sons Funeral Home Inc. He represents the State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors Association. The appointment replaces Charles E. Strode, whose term has expired.
- Jack M. “Sonny” Meyer, of Louisville, is the funeral director and owner of Herman Meyer & Son Inc. He represents the State Board of Embalmers and Funeral Directors Association. The appointment replaces John D. Northcutt, whose term has expired.
Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Breast Cancer Research and Education Trust Fund Board to serve for term expiring Oct. 24, 2013.
- Monika W. Clark, of Frankfort, is retired. The appointment replaces Mary Greene Sharfe, whose term has expired.
- Sonia H. Woodall, of Lexington, is a retired real estate broker. The appointment replaces Shirley Sue Bishop, whose term has expired.
Gov. Beshear has appointed Frank J. Nichols as a member of the Kentucky Boxing and Wrestling Authority to serve for a term expiring Jan. 4, 2013.
- Frank J. Nichols, of Benton, is a banker at Community Financial Services. The appointment replaces Bobby R. Keith, whose term has expired.
Gov. Beshear has appointed Lara H. Needham as a member of the KATS Network Advisory Council to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending March 31, 2012.
- Lara H. Needham, of Louisville, is a professor at Bellarmine University. She represents the Workforce Investment Board. The appointment replaces Russell L. Salsman, who has resigned.
The governor has reappointed the following members to the council to serve for term expiring March 31, 2013.
- Norbert J. Ryan, of Versailles, is the State Americans with Disabilities coordinator. He represents other state agencies, public agencies or private organizations.
- Matthew B. Davis, of Bowling Green, is an university administrator at Western Kentucky University.
- Joe L. Cowan, of Monticello, is an instructional specialist and ADA coordinator at Kentucky Community and Technical College System, Somerset Community College.
- Elizabeth B. Schomaker, of Taylor Mill, is a nurse anesthetist for the University Anesthesia Association.
- Sharon S. Fields, of Frankfort, is the executive director of the Kentucky Disabilities Coalition.
Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Kentucky Single Family Dwellings Advisory Committee.
- Frank Lyle Wallace, of Madisonville, is a building official for the city of Madisonville. He represents the Code Administrators Association of Kentucky. Wallace shall serve for a term expiring June 30, 2011.
- Michael A. Studer, of Wilder, is a home designer with Studer Residential Designs, Inc. He represents the Home Builders Association of Kentucky. Studer shall serve for a term expiring June 30, 2012.
- Jeffrey A. Tennill, of Shelbyville, is the chief code enforcement officer and building official for the city of Shelbyville. He represents the Code Administrators Association of Kentucky. Tennill shall serve for a term expiring June 30, 2012.
The governor has reappointed Michael L. Montgomery to the committee to serve for a term expiring June 30, 2011.
- Michael L. Montgomery, of Louisville, is a homebuilder with MONTCO Builders Inc. He represents the Home Builders Association of Kentucky.
Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Board of Directors of the Employers’ Mutual Insurance Authority to serve for terms expiring Dec. 31, 2013.
- Mark A. Workman, of Paducah, is the executive vice president of Geotech Engineering & Testing. The appointment replaces Jeffrey Mark Farmer, whose term has expired.
- Timothy S. Mauntel, of Villa Hills, is retired. The appointment replaces Michael D. Templemon, whose term has expired.
- Marvin D. Russow, of Louisville, is a labor representative for the United Food and Commercial Workers Union 951. The appointment replaces Jennifer Reed, whose term has expired.
- Lawrence J. O’Bryan, of Louisville, is the owner of Pro-Active Media and TPC-KY Inc. The appointment replaces John C. Miller, whose term has expired.
