Last night’s statement from Gov. Beshear on the Special Session
FRANKFORT, Ky. – “After the General Assembly failed to enact a budget during the regular session, I proposed a compromise to end the legislative stalemate that threatened to shut down critical state services, and called them back to Frankfort to get the job done. I am pleased that they were finally able to come together and pass legislation to shore up our unemployment insurance system, a transportation budget and Road Plan, and, most importantly, an executive branch budget. I remain disappointed that the Legislature did not see fit to enact the budget I proposed in January, which included new recurring revenue from slots at the tracks. While the budget the General Assembly passed yesterday will cause pain in a number of areas, I will work hard to minimize the impact of the cuts to Kentucky families.”
