Governor Beshear Orders Flags to Half-staff on May 18
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Gov. Steve Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 in honor of a Fort Campbell soldier who died while supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.
According to the Department of Defense, Spc. Jeremy L. Brown, 20, of McMinnville, Tenn., died May 9 at Contingency Outpost Zerok, Afghanistan, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked his unit using small arms fire. He was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, Ky.
Funeral services for Spc. Jeremy L. Brown will be held May 18 at High Funeral Home in McMinnville, Tenn. at noon Central time. Burial services will immediately follow at Mt. View Cemetery in McMinnville. Gov. Beshear has directed that flags at all state office buildings be lowered to half-staff from sunrise to sunset that day.
