Governor Beshear makes appointments to Boards and Commissions
FRANKFORT, Ky. – Gov. Steve Beshear has made the following appointments to Kentucky boards and commissions:
Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Elizabethtown Community and Technical College Board of Directors.
- John T. Issacs, of Springfield, is a self-employed dentist. The appointment replaces William Sorrell, whose term has expired. Issacs shall serve for a term expiring Feb. 14, 2016.
- Claudio L. Monzon, of Elizabethtown, is a banker with First Federal Savings Bank. The appointment replaces Tony E. Welch, who has resigned. Monzon shall serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Jan. 26, 2011.
Gov. Beshear has reappointed Peggy M. Williams to the Madisonville Community College Nominating Commission to serve for a term expiring April 15, 2014.
- Peggy M. Williams, of Central City, is a banker with First State Bank.
Gov. Beshear has appointed Kimberly Plumber to the Gateway Community and Technical College Nominating Commission to serve for a term expiring April 15, 2014.
- Kimberly Plumber, of Fort Mitchell, is a homemaker. The appointment replaces Ruth Eger, whose term has expired.
Gov. Beshear has appointed Randy W. Schumaker to the Bowling Green Community and Technical College Board of Directors to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Sept. 25, 2014.
- Randy W. Schumaker, of Bowling Green, is the chief management officer for Logan Aluminum Inc. The appointment replaces Doris C. Thomas, who has resigned.
Gov. Beshear has reappointed Sandra Sue Appling to the Bowling Green Community and Technical College Nominating Commission to serve for a term expiring April 15, 2014.
- Sandra Sue Appling, of Bowling Green, is retired. She shall serve as chair of the commission.
Gov. Beshear has reappointed Julie K. Turnipseed to the Henderson Community College Nominating Commission to serve for a term expiring April 15, 2014.
- Julie K. Turnipseed, of Henderson, is the executive director of the Downtown Henderson Project.
Gov. Beshear has appointed Summer Laine Hines to the Owensboro Community and Technical College Nominating Commission to serve for a term expiring April 15, 2014.
- Summer Laine Hines, of Beaver Dam, is a curriculum specialist with the Ohio County Schools. The appointment replaces Kittye B. King, whose term has expired.
Gov. Beshear has appointed Larry Sexton to the Kentucky Board of Licensed Professional Counselors to serve for a term expiring Sept. 23, 2013.
- Larry Sexton, of Richmond, is a professor at Northern Kentucky University. He represents certified professional counselors. The appointment replaces Allen E. Hall, whose term has expired.
Gov. Beshear has appointed Toni Carver-Smith to the State Board of Accountancy to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending June 30, 2012.
- Toni Carver-Smith, of Louisville, is the associate director of Presbyterian Church USA. She represents citizens at-large. The appointment replaces Christal Williams, who has resigned.
Gov. Beshear has reappointed William G. Elder to the Kentucky Board of Examiners of Psychology to serve for a term expiring March 11, 2014.
- William G. Elder, of Lexington, is a psychologist and professor at the University of Kentucky. He represents licensed psychologists.
Gov. Beshear has appointed Kathy J. Mayfield to the Real Estate Appraisers Board to serve for the remainder of the unexpired term ending Nov. 19, 2010.
- Kathy J. Mayfield, of Winchester, is a retired teacher. She represents citizens at-large. The appointment replaces Loren Clifford Huff, who has resigned.
Gov. Beshear has appointed William O. Bradley to the State Police Personnel Board to serve for a term expiring June 19, 2013.
- William O. Bradley, of Richmond, is retired from the Kentucky State Police. The appointment replaces Michelle B. Turner, whose term has expired.
Gov. Beshear has appointed the following members to the Kentucky African-American Heritage Commission to serve for terms expiring Feb. 1, 2014.
- J. H. Atkins, of Danville, is a professor at Centre College. He represents institutions of higher education. The appointment replaces William H. Turner, whose term has expired.
- Betty L. Baker-Wharton, of Cadiz, is a microbiologist at Jennie Stuart Medical Center. She represents the public at-large. The appointment replaces Karen McDaniel, whose term has expired.
- Angela Rebecca Nance, of Lebanon, is a WIA fiscal officer at Lincoln Trail ADD. She represents the public at-large. The appointment replaces Dorothy Lee Gray, whose term has expired.
Gov. Beshear has reappointed the following members to the commission to serve for terms expiring Feb. 1, 2014.
- Gerald L. Smith, of Lexington, is a history professor at the University of Kentucky. He represents institutions of higher education. Smith shall serve as vice chair of the commission.
- Jerry E. Cowherd, of Greensburg, is a retired educator. He represents the public at-large.
The governor has designated James B. Hudson as chair of the commission.
- James B. Hudson, of Louisville, is a professor at the University of Louisville.
Gov. Beshear has appointed Mona L. Juett to the Kentucky Grape and Wine Council to serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2014.
- Mona L. Juett, of Frankfort, is a staff adviser in the Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet . She represents the Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet.
Gov. Beshear has reappointed Jeffrey E. Wiles to the council to serve for a term expiring Jan. 1, 2014.
- Jeffrey E. Willis, of Somerset, is the owner and operator of Cedar Creek Vineyards. He represents grape producers.
Gov. Beshear has appointed Gary E. Carver to the Madisonville Community College Board of Directors to serve for a term expiring Jan. 26, 2016.
- Gary E. Carver, of Central City, is an insurance agent with State Farm Insurance. The appointment replaces Sharie B. Frazer, whose term has expired.
The governor has reappointed Alan J. Thorner to the board to serve for a term expiring Jan. 26, 2016.
- Alan J. Thorner, of Madisonville, is a physician with Trover Health System.
