Statement by Governor Beshear on Mine Accident
FRANKFORT, Ky. – "This has been a very difficult day for coal mining families and our entire state. Today, I traveled to Western Kentucky to meet with the families of the missing miners at the Dotiki mine, as well as to give my full support to our mine safety rescue teams.
"I told the families that the entire state is praying for their loved ones, and that we will continue to work until we bring them home.
"Once that mission is accomplished, our investigative teams will begin work immediately to determine the cause of this accident and whether there are any steps that can be taken to ensure such an accident does not occur again. Mine safety is of paramount importance, and we owe it to the miners and their families to perform a thorough investigation to protect the safety of them all. "
